GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman midfielder Belle Smith has been named ACC Freshman of the Year, as announced by the conference Wednesday.
The end-of-season awards are voted on by the eight coaches.
Smith, a native of Westhampton, New York, totaled 51 points on 39 goals and 12 assists. She led all freshmen in the ACC in goals, while also grabbing 11 draws, scooping up eight ground balls and causing four turnovers.
She had at least one point in every game this season, including seven hat tricks.
Smith is having one of the best freshman seasons ever on The Heights, currently sitting third for most points and most goals in someone's freshman season at BC.
