Boston College has backfilled the departure from its staff of one of the great women’s college players in history with... one of the greatest women’s college players in history.
Sam Apuzzo was officially elevated to the full-time assistant coaching position today, after spending the last two years as a grad assistant with the program.
The move comes on the heels of former BC deputy Kayla Treanor leaving the Heights to become head coach at her alma mater, Syracuse, this summer.
Obviously, the loss of Treanor is a disappointment, given her role in helping Acacia Walker-Weinstein build a champion at BC - though given her pedigree as both a player and a coach, it is no surprise that she quickly rose to a head coaching position of her own.
