Per John Buccigross, Ryan Shannon will be retiring from pro hockey at the end of the season and will take over as head coach at Taft Prep School in Connecticut. Shannon played at BC for 4 years, graduating in 2005. He went on to play in the AHL and NHL for 7 years.
Shannon began his professional hockey career with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (AHL), playing 4 games for them following the conclusion of the 2004-05 NCAA hockey season. He spent his first full pro season with the Portland Pirates (AHL), and would play for the Anaheim Ducks, Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa Senators, and Tampa Bay Lightning throughout his NHL career.
