CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Rutgers ran for a 22-yard touchdown with 2:43 left in the fourth quarter to take its first lead and the Scarlet Knights held on for a 22-21 season-opening victory over Boston College on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
Zay Flowers finished with a career-high 10 receptions for 125 yards and two scores. He also gained 16 yards on the ground for 141 all-purpose yards.
BC got the scoring started in the first quarter as Phil Jurkovec found Flowers' back shoulder on an 11-yard TD strike, making it 7-0 with 8:42 left in the period.
