After it was announced earlier this week that Oliver Wahlstrom would not be returning to Boston College, the New York Islanders have signed him to a three-year, entry-level contract. The ELC will begin next year - Wahlstrom is expected to sign an amateur tryout agreement with the Islanders’ AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Soundtigers, to close out the 2018-19 season.
Wahlstrom, who played just one season at BC, struggled to live up to the hype surrounding him. The 11th overall pick in last year’s NHL Entry Draft, Wahlstrom scored just 8 goals in 36 games this season.
