Boston College kicking has been a sore subject over the past two years. The Eagles in 2014 struggled to hit field goals, and extra points all season, culminating in a missed XP in the Pinstripe Bowl. This season the Eagles didn't score many points, but when they did they hit their XP's, but their field goals were spotty again. Additionally Alex Howell the punter graduated, and it was clear the Eagles would need some help at the kicker/punter position.
Satchel played for Old Dominion in 2014 and 2015 after attending Pasadena City College. According to his bio on the OD site, he:
