NEWTON, Mass. — After an early lead, No. 10 Boston College falls to No. 21 Massachusetts in a shootout on Sunday afternoon.
Less than four minutes into the match, Milagros Arteta fired a shot past Massachusetts goalkeeper, Marlise van Tonder with an assist from Jill Joossens to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
Early in the second quarter, Sky Caron was able to capitalize on the team's first penalty corner opportunity with an assist from Juliette Hijdra to bring the score to 2-0.
In the second half, UMass tied the game, scoring in the third and fourth quarters - including a goal with less than 30 seconds remaining in regulation.
