CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Nine former Boston College hockey players begin their quest for the 2019 Stanley Cup when the NHL Playoffs begin on Wednesday (April 10) across the league. BC's nine playoff competitors rank third among NCAA schools behind Michigan (12) and Minnesota (10).
Six former Eagles will skate in the Western Conference playoffs, while three players compete in the Eastern Conference. Kevin Hayes (Winnipeg) and Zach Sanford (St. Louis), who missed being teammates on the Heights by one season, will oppose one another in the first round.
During the NHL regular season, Boston College men's hockey alumni ranked second among NCAA programs in goals (212), points (528), and 25-goal scorers (3 – Cam Atkinson, Johnny Gaudreau, Chris Kreider).
