SAN FRANCISCO – Former Boston College baseball player Chris Shaw earned his Major League Baseball call-up on Friday afternoon by the San Francisco Giants. A 2015 first-round draft pick following a standout career for the Eagles, Shaw was ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the Giants' organization by MLB.com.
Shaw played in 101 games at Triple-A for the Sacramento River Cats and recently returned from a stint on the disabled list on August 22. He hit .259 with a .505 slugging percentage in the Pacific Coast League. Shaw was tied for fifth in home runs with 24 in the league at the time of his promotion and 11th in slugging.
