All it took was 18 seconds, and that was all the Minnesota Gophers needed to win the 2016 National Championship ending Boston College's perfect season in the process. Karen Potomac who won the game against Wisconsin, hit what would prove to be the game winner 18 seconds into the game.
There was lots of action, but not a lot of scoring for most of the first and second period as Boston College goalie Katie Burt and Minnesota goalie Amanda Leveille stood tall against a flurry of shots. Both goalies had 20 plus saves through two periods.
It was the third period though that proved to be the decisive frame in the National Championship Game.
