NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Sophomore knocked in the winning run in the eighth inning as Boston College defeated Connecticut, 5-4, at the Burrill Family Field in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon. BC is now 12-23 overall and will host Fairfield Wednesday at the Harrington Athletics Village (4 p.m.). UConn is now 15-21.
Freshman pitcher went the distance and picked up her fifth victory. She went eight innings, gave up nine hits, four runs and struck out four in the win.
Offensively, Boston College had nine hits, two doubles but left 10 runners on base. Freshman went 2-for-4 with a run and a double.
