CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Caitrin Lonergan and Makenna Newkirk each scored one goal and added an assist as the third-ranked and top-seeded Boston College women's hockey team took a 3-1 win over eighth-seeded Vermont on Friday afternoon at Kelley Rink. With the victory, the Eagles took a one-game lead in its best-of-three Hockey East Tournament Quarterfinal series against the Catamounts and will look to close out the series on Saturday afternoon.
Boston College (29-3-3) scored one goal in each period as the nation's leading scorer, Daryl Watts, netted her nation-leading 41st goal of the season with under five minutes to play in the first period.
