SAN FRANCISCO – Former Boston College baseball player Jake Alu made his Major League Baseball debut on Tuesday night for the Washington Nationals. Alu, who started in left field against the San Francisco Giants, became the 44th BC baseball alum to appear in the big leagues.
Alu was a four-year player for the Eagles, playing multiple positions, including pitching in nine games as a sophomore, before settling in as the starting third baseman his senior season. He hit .343 in his final year in 2019 and was named All-ACC third team as he totaled 81 hits, 51 runs and 18 doubles.
