The hockey community has faced an incomprehensible loss this week with the passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. New Jersey State Police announced earlier today that the two were killed Thursday when they were struck by a vehicle while riding bicycles.
Both brothers were valued members of the Boston College community. Johnny was a member of the BC men’s hockey team for 3 seasons from 2011-14, and Matt played 4 seasons for the Eagles, graduating in 2017. They were both part of a string of terrific years in Boston College hockey history. Johnny played a vital role in BC’s success during the 2011-12 season, leading all NCAA freshmen in scoring, earning the Hockey East Championship MVP award, and scoring an unforgettable goal during the National Championship game.
