NEWTON, Mass. – Fusine Govaert scored her second game-winning goal in three games, to help the No. 9 Boston College field hockey team advance to its first ACC Championship game in program history, defeating No. 4 Virginia, 1-0.
Sarah Dwyer played 64:29 in net, making six saves in her shutout effort.
The game got off to a slow start, before Virginia earned a penalty corner at the 21:18 mark in the game. Virginia took a shot off the corner, which was saved by Dwyer, before a Virginia rebound that Govaert kept out of the back of the net with a defensive save.
