CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Former Boston College men's hockey captain and 2001 national champion Brian Gionta has been selected as the captain of the 2018 United States Men's Hockey Olympic Team. The 23-player squad was announced at the NHL Winter Classic at Citi Field in New York.
Gionta skated in 164 career games on The Heights and is Boston College's career leader in goals scored with 123 tallies and second in overall points scored with 232 (123-109-232) from 1997-2001.
"We are thrilled for Brian (Gionta) to represent the maroon and gold in this year's Winter Olympics," head coach Jerry York said.
