Pittsburgh, Pa. -- Former Boston College wide receiver Shakim Phillips signed a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He joins former BC quarterback Tyler Murphy, who also joined the Steelers as a free agent.
Phillips rejoined the Eagles after playing two years at the University of Connecticut. He started his career at The Heights as a freshman in 2011 before transferring to Storrs. The wide receiver racked up 805 yards on 60 receptions with the Huskies, recording a career day with 10 receptions for 178 yards and a 75-yard touchdown against Maryland in 2013.
