BOCA RATON, Fla. –The Boston College volleyball team split the opening day at the Owls Classic, topping Bethune-Cookman in three sets before falling to host school Florida Atlantic, 3-1. The Eagles end the evening with a 5-3 overall record ahead of taking on Southern Utah tomorrow morning to cap off the tournament.
Clare Naughton tallied a match-high nine kills in the win over the Wildcats while Cat Balido followed closely behind with eight. Freshman Izzy Clavenna marked a career best, hitting at a .545 clip with seven kills and only one error on 11 attempts.
