Eagles to Face Northeastern Monday on the Heights

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – After beating Quinnipiac to open the season on Thursday, Boston College returns to the Newton Soccer Complex on Monday night to host Northeastern at 5:30 p.m. The game will air live on ACC Network Extra.

OFF AND RUNNING
• BC exploded for four goals in the second half and pulled away from Quinnipiac for a 5-2 victory over the Bobcats in the season opener last Thursday in Newton
Stefan Sigurdarson recorded a brace for the Eagles with his first two goals of the season, while newcomers Camilo Ponce and Adrian Zenko both had three-point performances with a goal and an assist
Diego Ochoa also tallied a goal on a free kick during the four-goal second half
Amos Shapiro-Thompson, Victor Souza and Jack Burgess (first career point) all collected assists in the win
• BC improved to 13-2-1 all-time against Quinnipiac and out-shot the Bobcats 19-3

BRACE YOURSELF
• For the second straight year in Boston College's home opener, Stefan Sigurdarson recorded a brace with two goals
• The Icelandic forward also scored twice last August in a 2-1 victory over Boston University at the Newton Soccer Complex
• Sigurdarson is now up to 18 career goals after netting six last year, which was tied for the team lead; he netted a career-best eight as a freshman in 2019

HOME COOKING
• Boston College is riding a 10-match unbeaten streak (7-0-3) at home dating back to a 3-2 loss to top-ranked Clemson on March 27, 2021 (spring season)
• The Eagles have registered clean sheets against five of those 10 opponents
• BC went undefeated at 5-0-2 in seven home matches last season

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
• Northeastern drew 1-1 with UMass at home last Thursday as each school scored midway through the second half
• The Huskies return five of their seven CAA All-Conference selections from 2021, including Federico Tellez (First Team), Timothy Ennin (Third Team), Colby Hegarty (Third Team), and All-Rookie picks Andres Torrealba and Sebastian Restrepo
• NU scored 40 goals in 2021, which ranked second in the CAA and was the third-most goals scored in school history
