Newton, Mass. – The 12th-ranked Boston College field hockey team tallied its first loss of the season, falling to No. 5 Syracuse, 6-0, on Friday evening at the Newton Campus Field Hockey Complex in the first conference matchup of the season.

The Eagles (4-1, 0-1 ACC) allowed an early goal to the Orange (5-0, 1-0 ACC) in the seventh minute and could not recover, as SU went to score three more in the first half and two in the second half. BC recorded just five shots to Syracuse's 12.

It was the first time the Eagles were shut out in 2017 and they also allowed the most goals on the season.
