BOSTON – Third-seeded Northeastern scored three goals in the opening 12 minutes and the Huskies held on for a 3-2 victory over seventh-seeded Boston College in the Hockey East Championship Game on Saturday night at TD Garden.
The loss ends the season for the Eagles (14-22-3) after a furious postseason run with wins over the top two seeds. BC became the lowest seed in Hockey East history to reach the title game, its 18th in the 35 years of the league tournament.
Boston College finished the night with a 40-26 edge in shots on goal and scored both of its goals on the power play early in the second period.
