BLACKSBURG, Va.. – Boston College dropped its ACC opener on Saturday night, 27-10, at Virginia Tech.
Phil Jurkovec finished the night 16-of-29 for 144 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a first quarter interception. After that interception on the Eagles' second play from scrimmage, the Hokies struck first after a seven-play drive from the BC 14-yard line. Virginia Tech extended the lead to 10-0 after a 49-yard field goal with under a minute to play in the first quarter. VT extended it to 17-0 early in the second quarter on a 65-yard rush with 13:50 left in the opening half.
