CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Boston College fencing team opened up 2020 at the January North America Cup, concluding the four-day competition on Monday at the Charlotte Convention Center. The Eagles wound up with two individual top-20 finishes and had five top-20 team finishes over the course of the tournament, which ran from Jan. 3-6.

Zachary Westen ended up with a 72nd-place finish in the Division I Men's Epee, advancing out of the first round after picking up four bout wins on the strength of a plus-6 touch differential and then going 2-3 in the second round before falling to Ariel Simmons in the Table of 128.
