DURHAM, N.C.-- Ninth-seeded Boston College defeated the eighth-seeded Syracuse in a pitchers duel, scoring one run in a 1-0 win over Syracuse in its opening game of the ACC Softball Championship at the Duke Softball Stadium Wednesday afternoon. The win propelled the Eagles to 30-23 on the season and set up their game tomorrow against number four and one-seed Duke as a winner-moves-on contest for Friday's Semifinals.
Junior right-handed pitcher Abby Dunning started in the circle for the Eagles pitching all seven innings, retiring four batters, allowing 2 hits. Dunning had an immaculate game with a no-hitter through four innings, allowing a 'Cuse hit in the fifth, followed by a strikeout.
