LAS VEGAS – Michigan Tech jumped out a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play, and despite two valiant efforts from the Eagles to come from behind, the Huskies held on for a 4-3 victory to top No. 13 Boston College in the first game of the Ice Vegas Invitational on Friday night at T-Mobile Arena.
Casey Fitzgerald and Graham McPhee both scored power play goals in the second period while Michael Kim made it a one-goal game with 71 seconds left with an extra-man marker.
Sophomore Ryan Edquist started his fifth game of the season and stopped 24-of-28 MTU attempts as his record slipped to 3-2-0 on the season.
