TAMPA – The Boston College baseball team dropped an 11-8 non-conference contest to the University of South Florida on Wednesday afternoon at USF Baseball Stadium.
The squads were scoreless through the first two frames before the Bulls took a 4-0 lead through four. The top of the fifth gave way to a five-run outburst for the BC bats. After Lucas Stalman tripled in a run and Travis Honeyman drove him in, Joe Vetrano's three-run home run put BC up 5-4.
USF was able to put up four more runs in the bottom of the sixth, though, and would hold off a BC rally that saw two on, two out with the tying run at the plate in the top of the ninth.
