CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – 2001 national champion and two-time Stanley Cup champion defenseman Brooks Orpik announced his retirement on Tuesday after more than 1,000 games over a 15-year NHL career.
"On behalf of the Boston College hockey family, we'd like to congratulate Brooks on an incredible career," said head coach Jerry York. "Not many players can say they've lifted both the NCAA and Stanley Cup trophies. It's been a pleasure to watch him grow over the years, and we wish him and his family all the best."
In his final collegiate season, Orpik helped lead Boston College to its first NCAA title since 1949 and also won two Hockey East Tournament titles (1998 and 2001) on the Heights.
