CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Boston College baseball team was walked off, 7-6, in the 10th inning against No. 19 Virginia in front of 2,744 at Disharoon Park on Friday evening. The loss dropped the Eagles to 7-9 overall and 1-3 in the ACC, while the Cavaliers moved to 17-1 and 3-1.
Center fielder Chris Newell delivered the game-winning hit, a single to right, with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 10th. Right-handed closer Will Geerdes (2-0) got the win with two perfect innings of relief for UVA.
