BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team was shut out by No. 15 Connecticut, 8-0, at the Harrington Athletics Village on Friday night. UConn (30-7) starter Ian Cooke (6-0) held the Eagles (15-22) to one hit in eight innings with seven strikeouts.
The lone BC hit of the night belonged to sophomore first baseman Joe Vetrano (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) on an infield-single to lead off the second. The hit was initially called out on the field, but was overturned after a replay review.
The Huskies grabbed the lead with back-to-back two-out hits, sandwiched around a wild pitch, in the top of the second.
