Despite playing a mostly even first half, Boston College went into the break down a goal after the Terriers took a 1-0 lead on a Matt McDonnell goal with two minutes left in the first half. After the break, McDonnell picked up right where he left off, scoring again less than 10 minutes into the half and doubling BU’s lead.
Down two goals, the Eagles’ offense came through, tying the score only 18 minutes later on goals by Lasse Lehmann and Abe Bibas. However, McDonnell completed his hat trick in the 80th minute. Before the official could blow his whistle, BC’s star senior forward, Simon Enstrom was able to tie the game in the 86th minute, sending the contest into overtime, where it would end a 3-3 draw.
