After more than a decade spent behind the bench next to Jerry York, Boston College alumnus and (now former) associate head coach Greg Brown is headed to the NHL. Brown will become an assistant coach for the New York Rangers under David Quinn, who was himself recently hired from BU.
Brown was responsible for overseeing BC’s defesemen and his results were easily enough to merit this opportunity. Recent seasons have seen a number of Eagles’ blueliners making big impacts in the NHL, including Brian Domoulin, Noah Hanifin, and Mike Matheson. Brown will look to replicate his success in the professional ranks with a Rangers defensive core that includes Brady Skjei, a player he coached in the 2014 World Juniors.
