Many great men’s hockey players have played for the Boston College hockey program. However, few stand out in terms of excellence. Only three BC hockey players have won the coveted Hobey Baker Award, given to the best player in collegiate men’s ice hockey.
Today we honor one of those three hockey players, former BC hockey player and current Calgary Flame Johnny Gaudreau.
Despite only winning the Hobey Baker Award once, Gaudreau was nominated for the award two out of his three years with the BC program.
It’s not difficult to see why.
Gaudreau played an integral part in the Eagles’ 2012 National Championship, scoring a late goal that forever became immortalized in BC hockey lore as simply “The Goal.
