GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman — Boston College cruised to an 82-52 win over Old Dominion in the opening game of the Cayman Islands Classic. Donald Hand Jr. logged his third double-double of the season, with 12 points and 10 boards. Fred Payne added 11 points off the bench for BC, which had 14 players see action. The Eagles logged a season-best 18 assists on their 29 made baskets. It was the first 30-point margin of victory for BC since a 31-point win over Holy Cross on Dec. 8, 2023.
FIRST HALF
- Chas Kelley drilled his first two 3-pointers, scoring six of BC's first seven points through the first four minutes of play
- BC used a 12-2 run to build a 19-11 lead with just over 12 minutes to play after back to back 3-pointers from Fred Payne and Joshua Beadle
- A Chad Venning layup with 8:50 left in the half gave the Eagles their first double-digit lead of the night - at 25-14
- The Eagles closed the final 4:40 of the half on a 13-5 push, building their largest lead of the night - 19 points - at 43-24

SECOND HALF
- ODU got within 14 - at 45-31 - with 16:47 left, before Boston College broke the game wide open
- An 18-4 run - including 11 unanswered by the Eagles - capped by a Jayden Hastings dunk, made it 70-41 with 9:06 to play
- The margin stayed at 30 points the rest of the way, including the final margin
- BC connected on 5-of-11 from beyond the arc in the second half, while holding ODU to 1-of-11 from 3-point land
