NEWRY, Maine – The Boston College alpine ski team battled through tough elements and course sets to a successful weekend of racing at the Bates Carnival at Sunday River.
A storm that brought rain, frozen rain, sleet, wet heavy snow, and fine powder forced race organizers to switch the race from giant slalom to slalom.
The BC men rose to the challenge and fought their way to the finish line. Sophomore Trent Gutstein once again led the way for the men and made the flip for the second run. He laid down the 10th-fastest time of the day and moved up to finish 18th overall.
