CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond has announced that Boston College will retire the jersey of former consensus All-America tight end Pete Mitchell. Mitchell's jersey will be retired at BC's November 9 game against Florida State.
"We are thrilled to retire Pete's jersey and congratulate him on this well-earned recognition," said Jarmond. "He will be remembered forever inside Alumni Stadium with some of the all-time greats to wear the maroon and gold."
Mitchell's jersey will be retired alongside 12 other BC standouts including Doug Flutie, Mike Ruth, Art Donovan, Bill Flynn, Gene Goodreault, Mike Holovak, Luke Kuechly, Lou Montgomery, Charles O'Rourke, Matt Ryan, Tony Thurman and Louis Urban.
