We are the champions! Boston College Women’s Lacrosse earned the school’s 6th NCAA-recognized national championship this year, and the first for a women’s team, so of course we (unanimously) gave them BC Interruption’s Team of the Year Award.
The journey over the past few years has been a dramatic one. Not only did the Eagles win the natty, but they did so in convincing fashion in their 4th-straight title game appearance after falling short in the first 3. Led by Tewaaraton-winner Charlotte North, it was nothing short of a magical year for the Eagles. They came into the tournament as a 4 seed and weren’t exactly expected to make it past the Final Four, but they beat the odds by taking down #1-ranked undefeated ACC-champion North Carolina and followed it up in a championship game that saw them pull away comfortably from Syracuse in the second half.
