DURHAM, N.C. – Boston College baseball earned a series win over No. 11 Duke with a 5-2 victory behind six innings from junior right-hander Emmet Sheehan (Darien, Conn.). The Eagles improved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the ACC, while the Blue Devils fell to 3-4 and 1-2.
Sheehan (2-0) pitched through the sixth for the second start in a row and matched his career-high in strikeouts with nine for the second week in a row. He allowed two runs on six hits and just one walk. Sheehan retired six of the last seven batters he faced, including four strikeouts over the fifth and sixth innings.
