CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Boston College baseball team was swept by No. 19 Virginia, capped by a 16-8 loss at Disharoon Park on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles dropped to 7-11 overall and 1-5 in the ACC, while the Cavaliers improved to 19-1 and 5-1.
Trailing by as many as seven runs through four innings, BC twice cut the deficit to three; even getting the tying run to the plate in the sixth. UVA had an answer each time with a three-run sixth and five-run eighth.
Cavaliers left fielder Alex Tappen led the offense with six runs driven in on a 4-for-4 day with a home run and three runs scored.
