RICHMOND, Ky. – The Boston College baseball team lost its weekend-opener to Evansville, 4-0, at Earle Combs Stadium on the campus of Eastern Kentucky Friday afternoon. The Eagles (4-3) take on the host Colonels (6-2) later today.
The Purple Aces (4-4) got a single run off of BC freshman right-hander Joe Mancini (Fairfield, Conn.) in the second and the sixth. First baseman Tanner Craig hit a solo home run in the second inning and shortstop Craig Shepherd later drove in Craig for Evansville's second run.
Mancini (1-1) tossed 5.2 innings and allowed the two runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
