BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team lost to Hartford, 7-4, at the Harrington Athletics Village on Wednesday evening. The loss dropped the Eagles below .500 for the first time this season with a 14-15 record, while the Hawks moved to 9-14.
BC attempted to overcome an immediate 3-0 deficit as the first three Hartford batters of the day all collected hits against senior right-hander Jack Nelson (Sparta, N.J.). Hawks' first baseman Chris Sullivan capped the scoring in the inning with a two-run home run to left.
The Eagles failed to score in the first, but put up a single run in each of the next three innings to tie the game, 3-3, by the end of the fourth and get Nelson, who allowed three runs on six hits and no walks with four strikeouts in four innings, off the hook.
