Baseball Shut Out by No. 8 Virginia Tech

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team was shut out, 2-0, by No. 8 Virginia Tech at the Harrington Athletics Village on Friday night. The Hokies (26-9, 10-7) broke a scoreless-tie in the seventh on back-to-back home runs by center fielder Gavin Cross and shortstop Tanner Schobel.

For the second week in a row, senior right-hander Joe Mancini (Fairfield, Conn.) turned in a seven-inning effort, but did not come away with a win. Mancini (2-3) took the loss despite only three hits allowed; striking out eight and walking two.

Righty Griffin Green (6-1) totaled 6.
