The Atlantic Coast Conference marked the end of an era on Tuesday when it announced a new football model beginning with the 2023 season. A new scheduling format based around the eradication of the traditional, two-division setup, will instead align the conference into a single, 14-team league. Teams formerly locked into six league games against divisional opponents will now play three permanent rivals while rotating the remaining opponents twice during every four-year cycle.
Without the Atlantic and Coastal Divisions, the top two teams based on conference winning percentage will advance to the ACC Championship Game currently held on the first Saturday in December.
