Bucking conventional wisdom in sports takes time, even for those on the inside who stand to benefit the most. (Just look at baseball's reaction to the Moneyball movement.) Yet you would think that once you've had first-hand experience doing something you would learn and adapt. Addazio for some reason isn't learning. He's been burned multiple times by allowing an opponent to march down the field to win the game. Knowing how often it has happened and can happen, he should place a priority on not giving up the ball in a close game. Instead, he put a value on giving the opponent extra yardage.
