With the 938th overall selection in the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft, the Oakland Athletics selected Boston College right-handed pitcher John Gorman. He becomes the second Eagle selected after Chris Shaw went 31st overall, marking the first time two Boston College players received the all-important phone call since 2012.
Gorman went 5-4 this season with a 4.44 ERA, throwing 77 innings while striking out 77 and walking 28. He held opponents to a .270 batting average while starting all but one of his 14 appearances.
A true homegrown product, the Norwood, Massachusetts native matriculated to Boston College from Catholic Memorial High School, where he was named Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior.
