The Boston Celtics have hired Kara Lawson as an assistant coach, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Lawson, a former Olympic gold medalist and WNBA champion who currently is an analyst for ESPN, joins an expanding group of women assistant coaches in the league including the San Antonio Spurs Becky Hammon, the Dallas Mavericks' Jenny Boucek and Cleveland Cavaliers' Lindsay Gottlieb.
Other coaching jobs have been proposed to Lawson in the past, but until now has remained in her role covering the Washington Wizards for the Bristol, Connecticut-based network.
