Even though Jaylen Brown can compile a several-minute-long montage of the highlight dunks he’s made over his career, his willingness to participate in this year’s Slam Dunk Contest is a bit of a surprise.
The Celtics star will be the first be the first player to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest and the All-Star Game on the same weekend since DeAndre Jordan did it in 2017. Brown had put off possibly participating in the marquee event in the past, but the 27-year-old felt that this is the right time to do it.
“I think I’m in my athletic prime,” Brown told reporters following the Celtics’ win on why he decided to participate in the event.
