Amid one of the wildest opening weekends in NCAA tournament history, somehow the East region stayed intact.
Upsets, drama and buzzer beaters were the theme of the tournament’s first two rounds, but while chaos ran through each of the other three regions, the East was calm by comparison. Four of the top five seeds remain as Villanova, Purdue, Texas Tech and West Virginia come to Boston this weekend to determine a spot in the Final Four.
The games tip off Friday night at the Garden, with Villanova-West Virginia going first before Purdue-Texas Tech, and the regional championship is Sunday.
