The Boston Celtics announced Saturday that Kyrie Irving underwent successful left knee surgery to remove two screws from his patella.
This news comes a few days after reports surfaced that Irving would miss the remainder of the regular season and playoffs to resolve a bacterial infection caused by the screws.
Danny Ainge said that, “The surgery went exactly as planned, and we expect Kyrie to be fully healthy for training camp in the fall.”
The Celtics are locked into the second seed in the eastern conference, and have three games left this season.
