The Boston Celtics lifted their 18th championship banner to the TD Garden rafters on Tuesday night.
Unfortunately, the only Celtics fans who were able to watch Boston’s latest banner raising above the parquet in full were the nearly 20,000 in attendance.
While TNT carried most of Boston’s championship ring and banner ceremony, the network opted to cut to a commercial in the midst of Banner 18 slowly lifting up above the hardwood.
Fair to say, Celtics fans and media members on social media were not thrilled by the network’s decision.
It was a bewildering move by TNT to choose that exact moment to intercut the ceremony with a commercial.
