It made perfect sense that disgraced former NBA referee Tim Donaghy was back on television last week, rationalizing his way through a segment of “(Dis)Honesty: The Truth About Lies,” on CNBC. Sentenced in 2008 to 15 months in prison for his part in a betting scheme based on the league’s games, he went to Gamblers Anonymous meetings and said he wanted to turn his life around.
Now he has a website that invites you to pay money to get his picks on upcoming games. Where once he expressed remorse for bringing shame on his family, he is now willing to drag his name through the mud if it gets people he met at the Gamblers Anonymous meetings to break out their credit card information in hopes of a big score or simply the chance to get back closer to even.
